It was fairy dust for those who are naive.

Providing vouchers will only put more people out of work and McCain knows this, I think, but he just doesn’t care.

Update; I give him credit for being a warmonger. Pick up a book and learn not to fall for the hook…

It was ok. We have to get the federal government out of education. It is best funded locally…..

Of course Democrats hate this kind of reform because they are bought and paid for by the teachers’ unions.

Look at Lady Tert’s reply that reform “costs jobs.” No, it doesn’t. The good teachers can teach in charter schools, public schools, private schools, or parochial schools.
The difference is that reform means ACCOUNTABILITY and the unions HATE that.
    Parents and taxpayers LOVE that.
It means that our children finally would get the teachers and education that they deserve.
If a teacher has to have a union to keep his/her job, how qualified is he/her?
Pay the good teachers more money and FIRE the BAD ones!
The unions won’t let us do that.
That’s why they pay the Democrats to protect them.
McCain wants what’s best for KIDS not unions.

I thought not only was it in the right direction, it is what needs to happen. People should have more of a choice, but also everyone should have a fundamental education. I dont agree however that the federal government should leave the education system as some answers might suggest.

Yes, No Child Left Behind was a big failure, but it was the first attempt by any President to try and have a national standard. Now we know that you cannot have a national standard to fit the country, but we do need to bring up our scores.

I liked his speech because it gives us options, and those who might not otherwise have an opportunity to attend these school except by vouchers.
